Monday was our first Bible study meeting held at the home of Lynn and David Shea. I had been praying that a meeting would be slotted during an evening hour; for many of us a mid-morning group is not an option. Father Moyer assured me last spring that it would happen. He lived up to his promise.
After our first hello’s and a short historical tour of their home (the kitchen was a horse stable!), we put reading glasses on, had coffee at hand and opened our Bibles. The Shea’s spirited golden retriever and a well-lit fire sealed in the warmth of our Fellowship. Each one of us sat intimately with the Lord as we offered up our questions, convictions, and insight. Father Moyer’s wisdom kept us on course. We were in good hands. His conversant approach allowed room for heartfelt comments, while his knowledge and expertise sheltered us from faulty interpretation. He clarified and guided toward the true path. Last night we drank in John 9 verses 1-34 until fulfillment set in.
The worth of an endeavor can always be calculated after, not before. I left wanting more. And although I am between careers and money is tight, I also left knowing that my meager pledge is as crucial as the next. Newman Fellowship is a light. A beam for some, just a shaft in darkness for others, and a crystal clear prism for yet more. Still, as you walk in Christ the light of our Fellowship must remain plugged in.
Let’s build…in Word, in Faith, and in Spirit.
I hope to see you next Monday evening.
Blessings,
Kathleen
